Holography: A View In Three Dimensions

Venue: Lawrence Hall of Science.

Location: Berkeley, California, USA.

Date: 1986.

Catalog: No.

Type: All Holography.

Holographic Educational Display by Cherry Optical Holography.

Ongoing Display.

Holography: A View In Three Dimensions was developed to educate and inspire the public about holography. Carol Turnbull approached Cherry Optical Holography for suggestions. Together they developed the idea of an Educational Display illustrating the different types of holograms. Nancy Gorglione and Greg Cherry made 26 holograms for the exhibit. They gave Lawrence Hall of Science a very good price, and the holograms were on display for approximately ten years.

A working 3 ‘ by 4 ‘ holographic camera made by Greg Cherry was on display with a transmission master of horses, “Jennifer’s Horses” by Nancy Gorglione. This object was provided by Dr. Jennifer White, Director at Lawrence Hall of Science, who hoped to inspire girls to science through holography.

Other holograms included:
“Yog Goes to Lawrence Hall of Science,” Six holograms showing exposure-developer variations by Nancy Gorglione from an early master by Greg Cherry.
“Gerbera Daisy Tests,” by Nancy Gorglione, illustrated single exposure color differences in reflection holography, obtainable through darkroom chemistry and exposure variants.
"Caliper and Egg" Reflection Hologram Interferogram by Greg Cherry.
"Hand," integral (moving reflection) hologram by Greg Cherry.
"Math Poem," Rainbow hologram, Containing mathematical formulas that together compose a poem by N. Gorglione,
"Apple Blossom & Butterfly," open aperture transmission Hologram By Nancy Gorglione and Greg Cherry.
"Magnifying Glass," Transmission Hologram by N. Gorglione
Plus diffraction gratings, laser masters, HOE's by Cherry Optical, and,

Other holograms Display at Lawrence Hall of Science:

"Toyota," A large format transmission hologram by Advanced Dimensional Display,
Some multicolor dicromate holograms from Jerry Heidt at I.D.I. Marketing;
Dicromate holograms from General Holographics of Burnsbury, BC;
Embossed holograms by Steve Provence Holography including 1000 "Gears" for the Catalog cover of Holography: A View in Three Dimensions, published in 1987 by Lawrence Hall of Science, Berkeley, about the holograms in the permanent exhibit.
