New Visions
Venue: Fine Art Building.
Location: Los Angeles County Fair, Pomona, CA, USA.
Date: September 11 - 20, 1986.
Catalog: No.
Type: All Holography.
Holograms by Nancy Gorglione and Greg Cherry in this techno-art exhibition of 35 artists representing “diverse approaches to art making in the modern age.” To quote the New Visions catalog, by Curators Kim and David Svenson. Viewed by a 100,000 fair goers. The Fine Arts’ Building was an upscale location, much beyond the usual fair ground sites, and the Svenson’s put together beautiful display walls and fixtures.
The curators requested race horse art, and so Gorglione made three reflection hologram composites in two and three color exposures, utilizing kinetic effects in holography to tell the story of RaceHorse Dream: nine interrelated 8” by 10” reflection holograms mounted to form a single piece; and Muybridge’s Dressage, 30” by 8”. Also on exhibition at New Visions were “Double Time or Second Thoughts for the Amazon,” "Strata" and “Bouquet,” three unique reflection hologram composites by Nancy Gorglione.
Greg Cherry exhibited "Talk to Me," "Egyptian Memories" and other pieces, including popular Cherry Optical Holography holograms. Other artists at the exhibition included Alan Rath, who made a mechanical galloping horse, Bill Bell and Ed Tannenbaum.
